On December 2015, ITG signed its commitment to the United Nations Global Compact-Lebanon (UNGC), by joining its corporate responsibility initiative, to fully support the UNGC ten principles in the fields of Human Rights, Labor, Environment and Fighting Corruption.

The UNGC is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. With over 8,400 corporate participants and 4,000 other stakeholders, UNGC is the largest voluntary corporate responsibility initiative in the world.

ITG is now committed to make the UNGC ten principles part of the strategy, culture and day-to-day operations of the company. It will also communicate with its stakeholders all the efforts made to engage with the UNGC, through an annual Communication on Progress (COP) report, which describes the company’s efforts to implement those principles.

The Global Compact Network-Lebanon was launched on September 3, 2015, at the Olayan School of Business (OSB), American University of Beirut (AUB), in the presence of UNGC executives, as well as representatives from the Lebanese companies, members of the UNGC. ITG HR and Marcom teams were present at this event.

During the opening ceremony, AUB President Fadlo R. Khuri said “I like dreams of the future better than the history of the past”, quoting Thomas Jefferson. “Our aim is a future society beyond corruption and questions of integrity”, he added.
Keynote speaker Adnan Kassar, chairman and general manager of Fransabank mentioned in his intervention, “A company’s role is not just to grow itself, but involves a duty to contribute to social development as well.”
A panel discussing “How organizations are aligning efforts with UNGC”, grouped executives from Lebanese members of UNGC-Lebanon, and shared their experiences in integrating the 10 principles into daily operations and the challenges and opportunities encountered throughout their journey.
